🌱 Early Life and Youth Career

Alex Morgan was born and raised in Diamond Bar, California. She began playing soccer at the age of 14 and quickly showcased her talent. Morgan attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears. She concluded her college career tied for third in all-time goals (45) and third in points (107) for the university. Morgan was a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and a finalist for the Hermann Trophy. 

⚽ Club Career

Western New York Flash (2011)

Morgan was the first overall pick in the 2011 Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) Draft by the Western New York Flash. She helped the team win the WPS Championship in her debut season. 

Portland Thorns FC (2013–2015)

After the WPS folded, Morgan joined Portland Thorns FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She played a pivotal role in leading the Thorns to the inaugural NWSL Championship in 2013. 

Orlando Pride (2016–2020)

Morgan was traded to the Orlando Pride in 2015. During her time with the Pride, she also had a loan spell with Olympique Lyonnais in France, where she won the UEFA Women's Champions League, Division 1 Féminine, and Coupe de France Féminine in the 2016–17 season. 

Tottenham Hotspur (2020)

In 2020, Morgan signed with Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Women's Super League, making a brief stint before returning to the NWSL. 

San Diego Wave FC (2022–2024)

Morgan joined the expansion team San Diego Wave FC in 2022. She won the NWSL Golden Boot in 2022, scoring 15 goals. Morgan announced her retirement from professional soccer in September 2024. 

🌍 International Career

Morgan made her debut for the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) in 2010. She was the youngest player on the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup team, scoring in both the semifinal and final. 

At the 2012 London Olympics, Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the semifinal against Canada, leading the U.S. to a gold medal. 

Morgan was instrumental in the USWNT's World Cup victories in 2015 and 2019. In the 2019 tournament, she scored five goals in a single match against Thailand, tying a World Cup record. 

She also participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), where the U.S. secured a bronze medal. 

Morgan concluded her international career with 224 caps and 123 goals, ranking her fifth in all-time goals for the USWNT.

Morgan is married to fellow soccer player Servando Carrasco, and they have a daughter, Charlie, born in 2020.
